The card sold as a PSA 9 grade and has a POP of 14. Don’t confuse this card with the Topps Chrome Pokemon Sparkle and Spectra series; “Tekno” was substantially more rare and stands as the the holy grail set of Topps Pokemon cards.
Pokemon Topps Backstory
The Pokemon Chrome Trading Card Series 1 was a set of Pokemon-themed trading cards produced by Topps in 2000. Topps had a short term license to print Pokemon, which is a big reason these cards are so valuable. The set consisted of 78 cards spanning the first 78 Pokemon. Each card was printed in one of three holographic variants: Spectra-Chrome, Sparkle-Chrome, and Tekno-Chrome.
Cards were sold in randomly distributed packs of five. The boxes had terrible pull rates – 1:2 per pack for Spectra-Chrome, 1:10 for Sparkle-Chrome, and 1:15 for Tekno-Chrome.
There is only a POP of 10 for a perfect grade of this card. We wonder how much that will sell for!
